The lean: The winner takes the second seed in Region 1 behind Saraland (6-0) and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. … McGill has won six straight games after losing to Pike Road and Saraland to open the season. The key to the Yellow Jackets’ success has been new South Alabama commissioner RB Braylon McReynolds, who has already racked up 1,550 yards and 22 touchdowns. The lean: This will determine the region’s third and fourth seed in the playoffs behind Class 2A No.1 Clarke County (6-0) and Leroy (4-1). … The Makos are in the playoffs for the first time in their second season of college football. They have won four straight games since losing streak to seeded Leroy and Clarke County. The loss of Clarke County was a COVID package. The lean: Basically a must win for coach Philip Rivers and the Cardinals to advance to the playoffs. St. Michael likely needs to beat Vigor or lose Jackson to 2-6 Escambia County to make it to the playoffs for the first time in school history. … Vigor comes off a particular victory over Williamson where Wolves held the ball on a play for the 5:49 final to miss the time at Theodore on Monday. Williamson, under first-year coach Melvin Pete Jr., has won three straight games midway through the season, but has now lost two of the last three. The Lions also lost a star and Alabama LB signed Robert Woodyard for the season with a knee injury. … Mobile Christian has lost four of its last five games.
