Kimberly Waterbury and her 95-year-old mother, Dottie Schneider, from Indiana, USA, were on vacation in Orange Beach on the Gulf Coast, Fox News reports.

Schneider, who uses a wheelchair, had difficulty walking alone in the sand.

The City of Orange Beach‘s Beach Safety Division then went out of their way after a guard first spotted Kimberly helping her mother along the beach.

The warden offered to get her into his beach patrol vehicle and she agreed.

He gave her the local office number and they called every morning to let the guards know when they were ready to go to the beach.

“In the past, when they went to the beach, she couldn’t go to the waterfront. They had to sit by the pool. Being able to put your feet in the sand and see the waves crashing on the shore, I think it made all the difference, ”Brett Lesinger, chief of the city’s beach safety division, told Fox News. Orange Beach.

To help the elderly woman and her daughter, the guards in the area coordinated to pick her up from her hotel and bring her to the set of chairs they had rented on the beach.

Rescuer Shane Martin, who arrived with a smile on his face four days in a row to help.

When the family left on Friday, the guards gathered to say goodbye and wish them good luck.

“We are forever indebted to the guys at Orange Beach Surf Rescue,” said Ms Waterbury, visibly moved. AL.com. “They made my mom feel special. She was not made to feel that she was a burden to anyone.

The rescue team said they considered the service they provided to Ms Schneider as another day in the office.

“[Many of us] have grandparents, and I think that was one of those things where [Martin] felt a little special about it because it reminded him of a grandparent, ”Lesinger added.
