Join the Associate Student Government and Title IX Office at the University of Alberta for an open discussion and meet with the new Title IX Coordinator, Shanita Pettaway, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21. in the Arkansas Union 507. Find out about new services and resources on campus, including the implementation of Callisto, a third-party resource for survivors of sexual assault. A native of Mobile, Alabama, Pettaway, recipient of numerous awards and honors, inducted into numerous honorary and professional societies, and first generation college graduate, holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the Auburn University (2019), Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center (2012), Masters of Public Administration from Southern University and A&M College (2012), Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration from the ‘Auburn University (2017), a Graduate Certificate in College and University Education from Auburn University (2017) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude, Alabama A&M University (2008).
Her most recent job includes positions at Columbus State University, where she served as Contracts Manager and Policy Coordinator, Assistant Title IX Coordinator, and held a part-time faculty position in the Department of Education, Leadership and counseling, after having taught higher education law. and ethics, as well as a course in perspectives; Auburn University; and the Legal Division of the Alabama Department of Human Resources. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
