Ask Us: An Open Conversation on Title IX Resources Thursday

Join the Associate Student Government and Title IX Office at the University of Alberta for an open discussion and meet with the new Title IX Coordinator, Shanita Pettaway, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 21. in the Arkansas Union 507. Find out about new services and resources on campus, including the implementation of Callisto, a third-party resource for survivors of sexual assault. This event will feature free snacks, drinks, an Amazon gift card, and a conversation about how we can shape the future of our campus. Space is limited, so RSVP over HogSync to secure your spot!

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Pettaway, recipient of numerous awards and honors, inducted into numerous honorary and professional societies, and first generation college graduate, holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the Auburn University (2019), Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center (2012), Masters of Public Administration from Southern University and A&M College (2012), Masters of Education in Higher Education Administration from the ‘Auburn University (2017), a Graduate Certificate in College and University Education from Auburn University (2017) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, summa cum laude, Alabama A&M University (2008).

Her most recent job includes positions at Columbus State University, where she served as Contracts Manager and Policy Coordinator, Assistant Title IX Coordinator, and held a part-time faculty position in the Department of Education, Leadership and counseling, after having taught higher education law. and ethics, as well as a course in perspectives; Auburn University; and the Legal Division of the Alabama Department of Human Resources. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
