‘Coach Collier has no criminal responsibility’: Theodore High Coach’s lawyer opens up about Bayou La Batre assault

BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (WKRG) – Eric Collier Sr.’s attorney, Dennis Knizley, spoke to WKRG News 5 on Wednesday, saying Collier Senior had turned into the Bayou La Batre Police Department earlier today. It comes after yesterday’s assault charge stemming from the Bayou launch pad incident. Police said the three other people involved also surrendered.
Knizley said the situation was disproportionate. He says Collier Jr. was attacked by the alleged victims on Dauphin Island, then he started telling his father.
“My client’s son abandoned these other people with whom he rode and got on another boat, comes back to Bayou La Batre, my client hears that his son is injured, Coach Collier will check his son’s condition and that’s what Coach Collier is involved in, âKnizley said.

âCoach Collier has no criminal liability and will be fully exonerated of these criminal allegations,â Kinzley said.
Meanwhile, Knizley has also championed the character of Collier, underscoring the respect he has in high school sports, taking the Bobcats to five straight playoffs.
“All of his former players respect him tremendously, as they should,” Knizley said.
The Mobile County Public School System says Collier has been put on administrative leave.
