COVID-19 vaccination clinic continues in Spanish Fort despite rainy weather on Wednesday
STRONG SPANISH, Ala. (WKRG) – The rain did not stop organizers from canceling a COVID-19 vaccination clinic Wednesday in Baldwin County. The Prodisee Pantry has partnered with Franklin Primary Health to deliver the first dose of Moderna vaccine.
“We have become this great center of hope. Families can come to us for many of their needs. We’re known not just for being a grocery box, but so much more. This year we have proven it, ”said Deann Servos of the nonprofit Spanish Fort.
Of course, the weather is to blame for a lower turnout, but those planning to get the shot made sure they were on the list rain or shine.
“To be safe and to leave in public without a mask. It’s worth it, ”said one woman who came forward for the vaccine.
A second first-dose vaccination clinic will be held at the Prodisee Pantry on May 18. The Alabama Department of Public Health and the Alabama National Guard will administer the doses. It will also be a food distribution day for Prodisee Pantry.
“The two most basic things people need are food and kindness. This is what we do at Prodisee Pantry. This is what we are committed to doing. If we can give you a truck of groceries and give you some hope, we can overcome this together, ”added Servos.
