Detectives continue to search for Union Gap killers

Union Gap detectives along with members of the Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team continue to search for clues in the murder of Jose Navarro, 84, and Rafaela Guzman Navarro, 87, at a home in Union Gap. Authorities say they were called to a house in the 1100 block of Whatcom Street in Union Gap around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Family members found the couple dead in the Union Gap home
Police said they were called by family members who had stopped to check on their grandparents but found the couple “had been seriously injured”. Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene. No arrests have been made and no new information has come from investigators. They don’t say if the murder was a random murder. The investigation is ongoing as police hope for tips that could lead to more answers and one or more arrests.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to give investigators more answers about the couple’s death.

Three murders have been reported in Union Gap so far this year
Union Gap detectives have investigated three homicides so far this year. Along with the deaths of Jose Navarro, 84, and Rafaela Guzman Navarro, 87, at a Union Gap home on Monday, police are also investigating another homicide earlier this year. A 37-year-old Union Gap man who authorities say killed a woman after a domestic dispute in his vehicle last month has been charged with second-degree murder during an appearance in Yakima County Superior Court. in June.
Police say Nicole Haggerty was killed during a domestic dispute
Union Gap police say Christopher Havins was responsible for the death of 39-year-old Nicole Haggerty. According to a witness, the two were fighting in a vehicle in the 1800 block of Rainier Place near Valley Mall in Union Gap on May 17 when Haggerty was ejected from the vehicle, dragged and ultimately run over.
Haggerty died in a Yakima hospital. Havins is awaiting trial in Yakima County Jail.
