Enterprise Hosts First 7A Girls Wildcat Invitational Golf Tournament
ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) – It was a great day to hit the links and that’s exactly what the Enterprise Girls Golf Team did.
Enterprise is hosting the inaugural 7A Lady Wildcats Invitational Golf Tournament today at The Bridges at Tartan Pines.
This was a one-day, 18-hole tournament which Enterprise and The Bridges hope to develop in the future and run annually.
Enterprise walked the course with six other teams from around the state including: Alabama Christian, Auburn, Central Phenix, Oak Mountain, Prattville and Spanish Fort.
This Wildcat team has been on the road for much of this season, so the ladies were ready for a chance to play on their home course.
“You travel like we do and we go to these other events and you hear these other schools and you want to show what you’ve got too,” Enterprise head coach Dough Branson said. “So the girls are really excited to show our place of residence, our place of practice that we hang out with every day. Hopefully we will be able to perform well here at home.
Golf Director and General Manager of The Bridges at Tartan Pines, Trey Anderss, added: “This is a really challenging course. The front nine is super easy and then you get to the back nine, we have a lot of wet areas and waste areas. So he can play in optimal tournament conditions, and today’s score will be very difficult for these girls. So the low turns, they deserved it.
Enterprise defending their home run as the Lady Wildcats took first place, winning a playoff win over Auburn.
Company 7th grader Shaelyn Kennedy was second in shooting an 80 that day.
