Holiday Hoops: Class 7A No.2 Davidson walks away from UMS-Wright to remain undefeated
South Alabama signatory Kelsey Thompson scored a record 34 points as Class 7A No.2 Davidson moved away to beat Class 5A No.2 UMS-Wright 71-58 on Monday night.
The Warriors improved to 15-0.

Iyanna Johnson followed Thompson with 19 points.
UMS was led by Dorsey Parker with 28.
The game was tied 19-19 after a quarter. Davidson was leading 36-30 at halftime and was no longer trailing.
UMS (11-3) will travel to Spanish Fort tonight.
Lee-Huntsville 56, Desert Pines (Nev.) 41: In the third round of the Jerry Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Lee defeated Desert Pines 56-41. Jada Colley led Lee with 16 points. Je’Nyiah Silas had 10 points and 8 rebounds and Jazella Burns added 10 points and 7 rebounds.
Florala 67, Georgiana 61: Rookie Lillie Boggan scored 18 for Georgiana. Angel Haynes was 17 and Alexea Bess 10.
Prattville Christian 60, St. James 34: Hannah Jones had 28 points and 23 rebounds. CoCo Thomas added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Ella Jane Connell added 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The PCA improves to 16-0 and will face Trinity at 4 today in the Championship game of the Jack Schweers CCC tournament.
Huffman 47, Fairhope 42: Elyse Hughes scored 14 points and Rachel Pflum took 8 rebounds for the Pirates.
Brantley 43, Elba 47: KK Dixon scored 11 and Anna Parker Little had 10 for the Bulldogs.
Priceville 53, Fairview 46: Zoey Benson had 18 points and 8 rebounds for Priceville (12-2). Lauren Hames scored 14. Emma Garcia scored 16 to lead Fairview.
Montgomery Academy 52, GW Long 40: MA improved to 5-4 with the victory over GW Long in the consolation bracket of the Jack Schweers Capital City Conference Christmas tournament. Chloe Johnson led Montgomery Academy with 29 points. Virginia Meachum added 10 points. Pierson Hartley had 10 rebounds for MA.
McAdory 54, Paul Bryant 36: Tameria Taylor led the Jackets with 17 points, Nyah Bibbs had 15 and Kameria Hoyte added 10 points.
Sand Rock 85, Alexandria 44: Lanie Henderson scored 24 points and Katelyn St. Clair had 23 points and 5 assists for Sand Rock at the Cherokee Invitational in Spring Garden. Sand Rock improved to 13-1 with the win.
Williamson 89, Ingomar (Miss) 57: Justin Brown had 24 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds as the Lions won their third straight game, this one at the Admiral Classic at Bayside Academy.
Robert Brown, Terrance Parker and Tyrek Gaines got 10 points each.
The Lions, the No.3 team in Class 4A, improved to 11-3. They will play at Bayside Academy at 1 p.m. today.
Baker 81, Sparkman 67: Class 7A No.8 Baker defeated No.6 Sparkman 81-67 in the Be Elite Holiday Invitational in Huntsville. The Hornets were led by Labaron Philon with 36 and Jayven Williams with 21. Sparkman was led by Calen Lightford with 17 and Will Hawkins with 16. The Hornets face Class 3A No. 3 Montgomery Catholic at 3:30 pm today.
Georgiana 64, Florala 57: Josh Sims had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Georgiana improved to 9-3. Freshman Nasir Cheatham scored 14, while Amari Feagin had 12 and Jacobie Morgan, another freshman, finished with 10. Georgiana played without starting point guard Tremari Longmire.
Prattville Christian 48, Alabama Christian 40: Carson Roberson led the Panthers with 26 points. PJ Evans added 9 points and 6 rebounds. Coleman Hunter had 7 points and 12 rebounds.
Brantley 73, Elba 32: Khaliq Smith had 14 points and 6 assists for Brantley (5-2). Jayden Parks had 13 points and Robert Shine had 11.
Highland Home 52, Montgomery Academy 47: Jamal Cooper led MA with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists, while Cole Caddell had 16 points. Nigel Walker added 8 points and took 8 rebounds, and Seth Edwards blocked 3 shots.
Hoover 55, Demopolis 50: Brodin Grady led Hoover with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists at Wallace State. DeWayne Brown had 8 points and 10 rebounds. The Bucs face Clay-Chalkville at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
UMS-Wright 73, Orange Beach 35: UMS outscored Orange Beach 21-4 in the third quarter. Bridges Simmons had 23 points and 8 assists. In four straight UMS wins, Simmons scored 23, 25, 24 and 15 points. Will Howard added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Barton Elliott had 13 points. Joey Robertson scored 12 for OB. The UMS is hosting the Mitchell Memorial Tournament from December 28-30.
