Hundreds of people flock to Tanger Outlets in Foley to shop for Black Friday
FOLEY, Alabama (WKRG) – Hundreds of people flocked to Tanger Outlets in Foley to shop for Black Friday.
Shoppers arrived early to look for bargains, but many shoppers said they didn’t get much sleep. Bria Goad was among the first in line for the Kate Spade store.
“Nothing. Absolutely none,” Goad said.
Many stores in Tangier opened around 6 a.m.
Some stores opened later this year than in previous years, a trend seen in most U.S. businesses, so employees can spend time with their families Thursday for Thanksgiving.
Tammy Welden, store manager at Kate Spade, said her employees stocked shelves early.
“We did it Wednesday pretty much all week,” Welden said.
The National Retail Federation predicts that holiday shopping sales could reach more than $ 850 billion this year, which would be a record.
“It’s probably our favorite time of year. We are all excited because we know this is the one time of the year when everyone is having fun. That we see this kind of traffic, ”Welden said.
“Most people are in a good mood. They want to spend money. They want to have fun, so we all enjoy it.
Several buyers in Tangier said they have been shopping for Black Friday for years. They say it’s always a good time to get gifts for the family and hang out together.
Brittany Smith, explains why she appreciates the Black Friday deals. waited in line with Kate Spade.
“I like how to come in and get there early and stand in line and pick the deals,” said Smith, who was waiting in line for Kate Spade.
“And spend our husbands’ money,” said one of her friends.
“Yeah, that’s it,” Smith joked. “We are all on the wedding train. We all work there, so our husbands’ money. This is the main. “
Tangier stores will remain open for most of the day on Friday.
