Kelvon McBride, a 3-star athlete from Mobile, Alabama, announced his commitment to play in the SEC.

McBride announced his commitment to play at Vanderbilt as the Cottage Hill Christian Academy rookie could be in line to be a linebacker for the Commodores in the class of 2023. He is listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, and is ranked the No. 64 linebacker in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 33 player at Alabama State.

“When I arrived this weekend it felt like home,” McBride told 247Sports. “It was a family environment; everyone was like a family. The players were cool.

McBride has already shown some versatility as in high school he played wide receiver, linebacker, defensive back and running track. After Vanderbilt, his deals included Arkansas State, Army, Florida Atlantic, Southern Georgia, and Navy. Linebackers coach Nick Lezynski was McBride’s main scout.

Given the possibility of the SEC rearranging its schedule to pit Vanderbilt more often against the home state schools of McBride, Alabama and Auburn, he said he was excited to face the best.

“It’s really cool — not just playing in this conference, but getting a good education,” McBride said.
