Latest regular season AHSAA football polls: Half of preseason picks finish at No. 1

Half of the eight No. 1 preseason picks in the AHSAA Football Coaches Poll made it to the top of this week’s latest regular season poll. Only Class 1A/3A Bayside Academy was ranked highest in the 11 weeks of the poll after starting as No. 1 in the boys’ poll. Classes 7A Oak Mountain, 6A Homewood and 4A/5A Montgomery Academy retained first place on the girls’ side.

In the “Super Poll” – the top 15 teams ranked regardless of standings – the Oak Mountain Girls remained No. 1 throughout the poll’s eight weeks while the Mountain Brook Boys finished the regular season at the first place after taking first place. in week 6 of the eight-week rankings.

Montgomery Academy’s boys’ and girls’ teams were voted No. 1 in Class 4A/5A in this week’s poll. The other top-ranked teams are, for boys, Vestavia Hills in class 7A, Mountain Brook in 6A and Bayside Academy in 1A/3A. On the girls side, Oak Mountain is No. 1 in class 7A and Homewood is top in 6A.
