Long-term substitute teacher makes a good impression, will land full-time in the classroom

Spanish Fort, Ala. (WKRG) – Elana Bender is currently teaching these high school students about food and nutrition. But that’s not all it teaches.
“Three different classes. I have dietetics, food and nutrition, and family and consumer science,” Bender said.
Bender joined Spanish Fort High School last year as a cheerleading coach, but later took over from a teacher who left. This is her very first teaching position.
“I got an exercise science degree from southern Alabama, which allows me to teach physical education and health. But it’s also up my alley and I kind of fell inside,” she said.
And within just a few months, she immediately began to impress students, like her contestant Abby Lassiter. And Bender is the second teacher Abby named.
“How is this nomination going for you? WKRG News 5 asked.
“Pretty good. I only placed two and got two,” Abby said.
“Why did you name her?” »
“She is the best teacher of all time. She lets us cook so many times, we do so many different things. We learn a lot.
Bender plans to become a full-time teacher soon, and she thinks she has a lot to offer.
“My heart is also in student-athletes, but I think it’s very important that school comes first and athletics comes second, but I love kids,” she said. .
Our congratulations to Elana Bender and Spanish Fort High School for a job well done.
