MCHD Adds More Vaccine Opportunities To Calendar | COVID-19 coronavirus news

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – The Mobile County Health Department COVID-19 Response Team is announcing more opportunities to get yourself vaccinated.
As with all MCHD COVID-19 events, this will follow a first come, first served format. No appointment will be made.
On Wednesday October 20, MCHD will deliver the vaccine to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (4051 Old Shell Road in Mobile). The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon. MCHD will provide both the Pfizer vaccine (for ages 12 and older) or the Moderna vaccine (for ages 18 and older).
On Wednesday, October 27, MCHD will deliver the vaccine to Dauphin Island Town Hall (1011 Bienville Blvd. on Dauphin Island). The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon. MCHD will provide either the Pfizer vaccine, the Moderna vaccine, or the Johnson & Johnson single injection vaccine (for ages 18 and over).
Additional information
The public can also pick up the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, Pfizer vaccine, or Moderna vaccine at MCHD’s Newburn building (248 Cox Street in Mobile, opposite Saint Stephens Road). Newburn will be open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
The CDC now recommends that people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems receive an additional dose of COVID-19 mRNA vaccine at least 28 days after their second dose of Pfizer vaccine or Moderna vaccine. Those who come for their second or third dose should bring the CDC vaccination card that was presented to them after their first injection. If you no longer have the card, be prepared to wait for MCHD staff to retrieve your information from the state immunization system.
In addition to offering the vaccine, staff at Newburn offer rapid walk-in tests during those same hours. The test is free for all ages. Results are provided within 15 to 30 minutes while you wait. No appointment is necessary.
Individuals requesting a molecular test (Abbott ID Now) or PCR test (via LabCorp) for personal preference or for travel should be tested at the Family Health location. Appointments for these specific tests can be made by calling 251-690-8889.
For those who wish to make an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, MCHD now offers Moderna first and second dose vaccinations at several of its family health centers conveniently located in Mobile County. To schedule a time to receive the hit, please call 251-690-8889.
