MCHD Makes Changes to Its COVID-19 Locations | COVID-19 coronavirus news
MOBILE, Alabama – The Mobile County Health Department COVID-19 Response Team opened a new location at the Shoppes of Bel Air last week to provide COVID-19 vaccinations and testing. It was well received by the public.
In order to accommodate the large crowds, MCHD decided to transfer its staff from the Newburn building (248 Cox Street in Mobile) to work at the mall. Today will be the last day for vaccinations and testing in Newburn. The normal hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. will be respected.
For anyone needing their second dose of Pfizer or Moderna that they received in Newburn, they should go to the mall or the Keeler Memorial Building for their second injection.
In order to better serve the public, the availability to visit the location of the mall is also expanding. From this weekend, the site will be open to the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Shoppes at Bel Air COVID-19 services are installed at the location previously occupied by the Forever 21 clothing store. The mall is located at 3299 Joe Treadwell Drive in Midtown Mobile. Entry is limited to the exterior doors located between Dillard’s and H&M department stores. This clinic is always open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The public can receive either the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (for ages 18 and over), Pfizer vaccine (for ages 12 and over) or the Moderna vaccine (for ages 18 and over) at the Keeler Memorial Building (251 St. North Bayou in Mobile) and the shopping center. Keeler’s clinic is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
In addition to offering vaccines, the Keeler and Bel Air sites also offer rapid walk-in tests. The test is free for all ages. Results are provided within 15 to 30 minutes while you wait. No appointment is necessary.
Today, MCHD will deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to the community at the James T. Strickland Youth Center (2315 Costa Rica Street in Mobile) from 9 a.m. to noon. This will offer the Pfizer vaccine (for ages 12 and over). Those who received the Pfizer vaccine on July 20 may receive their booster at that time.
Every Thursday, MCHD will donate the Pfizer mRNA vaccine (which has been approved for ages 12 and up) at the occupational health center. This facility is located near the Mobile Aeroplex in Brookley (2050 Michigan Avenue in Mobile). The vaccination clinic will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On Friday, MCHD will offer the COVID-19 vaccine at the Dauphin Island Town Hall building (1011 Bienville Boulevard) from 9 a.m. to noon. This will offer both the Pfizer mRNA vaccine (which has been approved for ages 12 and over) and the Moderna vaccine (which has been approved for ages 18 and over). Booster shots are available for those who received their initial dose on July 16 at the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo or July 22 at the market in the park.
On Saturday, MCHD will deliver the COVID-19 vaccine to the American Legion Post 250 (10950 Dauphin Island Parkway in Theodore) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. He will offer the Pfizer mRNA vaccine (which has been approved for ages 12 and up).
Those who come for their second booster dose of Pfizer or Moderna should bring the CDC vaccination card presented to them after their first injection. If you no longer have the card, be prepared to wait for MCHD staff to retrieve your information from the state immunization system.
