Middleboro firefighters battle a large fire in a landscaping yard

Middleboro firefighters and other local fire crews spent long hours Friday and Saturday battling an intense blaze at a landscaping job site, calling it a “long, difficult and labor-intensive operation. of work”.

According to Facebook posts from Middleboro Fire Department Local 3653, firefighters were called to Ryco at 481 Wareham Street around 6 p.m. Friday, July 1 to a reported fire in the equipment yard of Agresource, a tenant of the property.

Firefighters arrived to find three large compost piles on fire. Several tankers were called to the scene as tanker shuttles and relay pumping were required, the union said, while battling the heat and humidity of the weather in addition to the fire itself.

“Thousands of feet of supply line were laid with hundreds of thousands of gallons of water applied at the end of the operation,” the union said, noting that a total of 24 fixtures and three towers of lighting were used.
