Mobile police put an end to a secret prostitution operation on Tuesday.

So far, at least nine people have been incarcerated in Metro Jail, 8 women and one man.

This operation follows last week’s secret “drug” affair.

Officers will take a high-profile approach on Wednesday, setting up roadblocks across the city.

Mobile could see all of this coming as shootings skyrocketed and the city’s homicide rate skyrocketed.

Police Chief Paul Prine says it’s all part of a plan.

“It is important that the community and the citizens of Mobile understand exactly what we are doing,” said Prine. “They need to be able to see the mobile police service in the community to tackle violent crime.”

Prine says the community should expect to see more operations like this.

“These are the street type crimes in the cases that really lend themselves to violent crime,” Prine said. “Most of the time, most of the time, in the community.”

The plan continues on Wednesday when officers begin to set up roadblocks at four different locations.

Public Security Director Lawrence Battiste says all of this is being done to protect the community.

“It’s a tool that they are using to try to make sure that they provide increased safety for our community as a whole, and just to raise awareness,” Battiste said.

More details regarding the prostitution bite will be released once they are available.
