Mobile rally: Braylon McReynolds, McGill cruise past Citronelle, 59-0
Braylon McReynolds scored three rushing touchdowns and Northwestern’s engagement Braden Turner returned a punt for a touchdown as McGill-Toolen passed Citronelle 59-0 on Friday at Archbishop Lipscomb Stadium in Mobile.
McGill won their second straight game to improve to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in 6A, in Region 1. Citronelle fell to 1-3, 0-3.
Trey Inge (6-yard rush), Shemar Welch (interception return for a score) and Will Taylor (21-yard pass from Michael Crocker) also scored for the Jackets.
Theodore 27, Murphy 6
Kierstan Rogers ran for 105 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries as the No.6 Class 6A Bobcats went unbeaten.
Theodore improved to 5-0, 4-0 in Class 7A, Region 1. The Bobcats are inactive next week. Murphy fell to 1-4, 1-3.
William James also ran for a touchdown, while Tevaris Sullivan had two receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.
QB Tametrius Pogue was 5 of 10 for 109 yards and a touchdown.
Boulanger 43, Mary G. Montgomery 0
Joshua Flowers scored 5 TDs on Friday night as Baker passed MGM.
The Hornets improved to 4-1, 3-1 in 7A, in Region 1. They are inactive next week.
Flowers completed 12 of 17 passes for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns. He rushed three times for 39 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Jamari Hawkins caught three passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. He also had a rushed TD. Jayven Williams had two receptions for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Baker’s defense limited MGM to just 42 total yards, including 35 on play in the fourth quarter.
Gulf Shores 27, Robertsdale 13
Sophomore Ronnie Royal III ran for 183 yards and 3 touchdowns on 27 carries as Gulf Shores ended a two-game losing streak. Keeshon Siaosi ran 135 yards on 13 carries.
JR Gardner scored the Dolphins’ other touchdown on the ground. QB Landon Jones was 6 of 9 for 60 yards.
The Dolphins improved to 3-2 overall, 1-2 in Class 6A, Region 1. Robertsdale fell to 2-3, 1-2. Gulf Shores is inactive next week.
Orange Beach 39, Greene County 12
Orange Beach returned after missing last week’s game against Clarke County due to COVID-19 protocols and returned to the winning track.
Chris Pearson ran for 188 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. He also had two receptions for 17 yards and a TD.
Cash Turner rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown in 10 carries and completed 4 of 9 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown.
Jackson Richtmeyer caught a catch for 29 yards.
Spanish Fort 27, Baldwin County 7
The No.1 Class 6A Toros overcame sloppy ground and a long lightning delay in the fourth quarter to go undefeated.
Brendon Byrd ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a pair of touchdown passes at Jacob Godfrey and Travon Reed.
Ty Mims scored Baldwin County’s lone touchdown.
The Toros are now 5-0 overall, 3-0 in Class 6A, Region 1. They are inactive next week before welcoming Saraland in two weeks. Baldwin County fell to 2-2, 1-2.
Clarke County 15, St. Luke’s 7
Jamarian Jackson ran for 101 yards and one touchdown in 19 carries as Clarke County held off at St. Luke’s.
Ron Johnson ran 73 yards and the other TD Bulldog on 19 carries.
Davious Simmons scored St. Luke’s lone touchdown on a 6-yard rush.
There was no goal in the second half.
Clarke County (3-1, 3-0 2A, Region 1) ran for 308 yards and limited St. Luke’s to 120 total yards.
The Wildcats are 2-2, 2-1.
Williamson 42, WS Neal 0
Darryon Pough had two rushing touchdowns and Thomas Miles received two as Williamson held WS Neal winless.
Alabama commit Robert Woodyard returned a fumble for a touchdown, but the play was called for a penalty.
Daniel Miller and Jahkobe Shaw also had rushed touchdowns.
The Lions have improved to 3-2 overall, 2-0 Class 4A, Region 1. WS Neal is 0-4, 0-3.
Jackson 40, Selma 8
Walt Taylor III threw for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for a score as the Aggies returned to the winning track after two straight losses.
Tylen Campbell had four receptions for 119 yards and 2 touchdowns. Tychius “Bobo” Caves made three receptions for 61 yards and two rushes for 30 yards. Mike Jones had a 54-yard touchdown reception.
