One of them happened just before 11 p.m. Tuesday along the 500 block of Williams Street near Dauphin Island Parkway. Police said it was 10:39 p.m. when officers were dispatched following news of two people having been shot there.
Upon arrival, police said officers discovered James Walters, 47, had been shot and killed along with an adult female. Walters died of his injuries and the woman is in critical condition, police say.

Police say their investigation will continue.
Shortly thereafter, at 11:22 p.m., officers responded to block 2600 Florida Street for a sudden report.
Upon arrival, they discovered James Jones, 73, apparently with gunshot wounds. Police said he was taken to hospital where he later died.
Homicide detectives responded to begin their investigation.
