Channel 9 reporter Glenn Counts spoke to some passengers as they grapple with last minute changes.
“What kind of headaches did that give you?” I was going to South Carolina to pick up a car; now I can’t make it until tomorrow, so it kind of ruined my day,” said Joe Giles, a stranded passenger.
Passenger Jerry Mead said he was trying to get to Wilmington and was not convinced he would be able to get a flight tonight.
“I was in Orlando, and I was going to Orlando to Charlotte, back to my home in Wilmington. So we arrive in Charlotte, but the flight to Wilmington has been canceled. Of course I’m concerned about the icy tracks there,” Mead said. “My son and his wife live in Davidson. So I’ll have them come here and get me.
A group of Marines returned to Camp Lejune said they were caught in bad weather. Although they were unable to speak on camera, they told Channel 9 that they planned to spend the night at the airport.
Sue Meyers and her family were traveling to Alabama for a family reunion, but two of their flights were canceled on Saturday.
“Were supposed to at 9 tonight (go) to Orange Beach Alabama,” Sue Meyers said. “It was a big deal because we had reserved our seat, paid extra to make sure someone would be seated with my dad and my son, someone seated with his almost 2-year-old daughter.”
