MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) — A thief was caught robbing a family’s porch in the middle of the night, but the landlady says she missed the jackpot.

Captured on doorbell video, an agitated woman was seen snatching a single box from a loaded porch. She hurried away without looking back.

“She looks really sporadic,” said Blake Collum, the owner. “You saw it coming. She didn’t really know what she was looking for. She clearly grabbed what she thought was valuable, then rushed to her car and drove off.

Collum said he and his wife ran a small business from their home near Sollie Road, and customers often picked up packages from their porch, but he said the thief stole the least valuable box full of tools materials worth only $40.

“There are probably 15 other things on the porch right now that could be $100 to $300, so she took the cheapest thing,” he said. “The joke is on her.”

They weren’t concerned about the articles. It is the audacity of the woman to steal.

“Most likely she was walking around, our porch light was on, and she saw some things there,” he said. “She could have done this to 10 or 15 other people last night.”

Since the family has customers who come to their house to place orders, this crime causes them to redesign their porch pickups.
