MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – A neighborhood in West Mobile County hit by parcel thieves, and everything has been caught on camera.
Owner Crystal Lavelle said she was alerted by her doorbell to an unexpected visitor.
Two packages slipped on his porch in the middle of the day.
“I just felt a little violated. I’ve never had anything like it, never felt threatened or anything for that matter, ”Lavelle said.
The act was not done alone. It was actually a trio of thieves.
In the video, you can see a person running across the street and also grabbing a package, as they both get into a van with a fleeing driver.
Other owners on the street were themselves shocked when they saw the video.
“It’s a shame we have people who are so low that they want to do that to people rather than go looking for a job and make money,” said Sam Craft, who lives on the streets.
His wife Diane was also saddened by the news.
“It’s just sad, you know the packages are coming in for the kids to put under the tree and you know they’re going to miss this,” said Diane.
Lavelle said that was exactly the case in this situation.
She says one of the packages was a Christmas present for her son.
And with only a few days left, it will be a challenge to replace it.
“It was one of my son’s biggest gifts and I hope I can get it on time, it’s not in stock right now,” Lavelle said. “But I plan to replace this gift. You work hard for your money, you don’t want someone to just take it off your porch.
Lavelle says she will have her packages delivered elsewhere in the future to prevent this from happening again.
She says she will file a report with the sheriff’s office on Wednesday.
