See the coastline with Sail Wild Hearts
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WKRG) – This week, Destination Gulf Coast takes us to Orange Beach, Ala. where you will find some of the most beautiful waters around! But you don’t just have to look at the water. This destination puts us in the water in a 53-foot catamaran!
Our host for this destination is Sail Wild Hearts, with Captain Zach Smith at the helm. The open-ocean yacht is moored at Perdido Beach Resort‘s bay dock, which is the perfect and beautiful gateway to the waters of Perdido Pass and the Gulf of Mexico.
Smith has been with the company for 10 years and says his joy comes not just from sailing, but also from showing visitors and locals the beauty of our coastline and local waters.
“It’s a break from being on the beach. Just coming here and getting out on the water, having fun, relaxing and relaxing, seeing the beauty of our area, that’s really good stuff,” Smith said. “It gives you a different perspective and appreciation of what we have, to remind you how lucky we are.”
The company, owned by Ted Scarritt, offers a variety of cruises including dolphin cruises, sunset cruises, adventure cruises and Blue Angels training cruises. Lasting between 1.5 and 6 hours, the cruises offer passengers plenty of opportunities to soak up the beauty of the landscape and see many creatures that swim just offshore.
Smith said many families, locals and tourists, return year after year.
“Every trip is different. We’ve had people say it’s their first cruise and others say it’s their 10th or 11th trip with us. I’ve seen kids who literally grew up on these cruises, come back year after year,” Smith said. “Their parents will share their photos from each trip and that’s pretty cool.” To learn more about Wild Hearts, visit their website by clicking on the link here.
