Spring Hill student awarded ASWA Small College Athlete of the Year

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Spring Hill College Baseball’s Micah Morgan received Small College’s 2021-22 Athlete of the Year award at the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s 50th Annual Convention and Awards Ceremony last Sunday in Birmingham.
Morgan, a sophomore from Fairhope played first base and pitcher for CHS posting a .446 batting average with 24 doubles, 16 homers and a CHS single-season record 77 RBI. He recorded an .819 hitting percentage with 47 walks while sweeping seven bases on eight attempts.
Morgan committed just two errors on 324 outs while participating in 37 double plays on the field. On the mound, Morgan went 3-1 with a 6.49 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched.
The southpaw was a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team selection and the 2022 SIAC Championship Tournament MVP. Morgan was also selected as a member of the 2022 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and All-America First Teams of the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association.
Earlier this year, Morgan was named the 2021-22 CHS Male Student-Athlete of the Year and a second-team member of the American Baseball Coaches Association All-South Team.
Morgan helped lead the Badgers (38-15) to an SIAC Baseball Tournament Championship trophy while qualifying for the NCAA South Region Tournament for the second time in four seasons.
