The future of Ladd Pebbles stadium will be discussed at next Tuesday’s meeting

MOBILE, Alabama (WKRG) – Mobile City Council members who are part of the Administrative Services Committee are expected to discuss the future of Ladd Peebles Stadium after the regular council meeting next Tuesday.
Members are ready to discuss Ladd’s tax situation to see what options are available for the stadium.
There has been a mass exodus in Ladd over the past year. LendingTree Bowl announced a few weeks ago that it will be relocating to Hancock Whitney Stadium at the University of South Alabama after more than 20 years of relationship with Ladd. The move comes after the Senior Bowl, the nation’s first All-Star game, left Ladd and played its first game at Hancock Whitney Stadium earlier this year. The October shooting at the Vigor High School game, Williamson, which left five injured, led the Mobile County public school system to sever ties with Ladd completely – with the system claiming he would never organize there again event.
District 2 City Councilor William Carroll said it was time to find ways to recruit events to come to Ladd and hold more city-led events there.
âMunicipalities our size should organize events. You know, it is sometimes difficult when a city receives, in my opinion, large sums of money for events to take place but yet we do not host them in our own facilities, and I hope we can evolve into organizing events at our own facilities with some reallocation of Ladd and having other income-generating opportunities that would fit into Ladd’s coming to the city of Mobile, âsaid Carroll.
The stadium board and facilities manager will also be present at the meeting. It will be held next Tuesday immediately after the regular meeting of the municipal council.
