Two-time champion Thompson tops Alabama HS most-watched football team list
Thompson, the two-time defending Class 7A state champion, is the most followed high school football team in the state of Alabama, according to MaxPreps.
The website compiled the numbers on the high school football teams with the most views on MaxPreps team pages combined with followers between May 2020 and May 2021.

The top three teams in the state were the Warriors, Central-Phenix City and Pinson Valley. Two of the three, Thompson and Pinson, won the state championships during this period. Central won a Class 7A state title three years ago.
According to MaxPreps, the team with the most followers in the country was Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) With 10,307 followers.
Thompson was 14-0 in 2020 and won 49 of his last 53 games since 2017. The Warriors beat Central-Phenix City for the 2019 Class 7A state title and Auburn in 2020.
Central was 8-5 in 2020, Patrick Nix’s first year as a head coach. The Red Devils lost to Auburn in the Class 7A semifinals. They are 55-10 since 2016.
In the first year under former Alabama defensive back Sam Shade, Pinson Valley went 12-2 in 2020 and beat Spanish Fort to claim the Class 6A state title. It was the second title in three years for the Indians, who are 50-6 since 2016.
Among Twitter followers, another school in Alabama far exceeds the other three. Hoover currently has 13,000 subscribers. Central-Phenix City has 4,960, Thompson 4,763 and Pinson Valley 2,913.
