University of Mobile: Kadisha Onalbayeva, professor of music at the University of Mobile, inducted into the Steinway & Sons Faculty Hall of Fame

MOBILE, Alabama –
The director of piano studies and music teacher at the university’s Alabama School of the Arts was appointed by the Steinway Piano Gallery in Spanish Fort, Alabama.
âYour passionate commitment to teaching and inspiring young people in their study of piano music is commendable and rare,â said Gavin English, president of Steinway & Sons Americas.
The induction took place at the historic New York Steinway factory from September 30 to October 30. 1.
Onalbayeva is the first pianist from Kazakhstan to be named a Steinway Artist and is the founder and current president of the Gulf Coast Steinway Society, promoting the study of the piano in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Onalbayeva kicked off the Alabama School of the Arts Piano Festival, a year-long special event series highlighting ASOTA’s undergraduate and graduate programs in piano performance. Now in its fifth year, the Piano Festival is in full swing with over 10 events featuring ASOTA’s Elite 88 piano ensemble, as well as guest artists and teachers.
