Volunteers help Prodisee Pantry distribute Christmas lunch boxes | Baldwin County Alabama News

SPANISH FORT, Alabama (WALA) – Prodisee Pantry is about to cook Christmas dinner for 1,500 Baldwin County families.
We saw them filling their Christmas boxes and this weekend they were there because they had a lot of help distributing them.
Among the volunteers who made this possible was the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
“It means a lot. This is the time of year – Christmas time – and this is the time we want to share. We want our community to know that we feel a lot of support for the Sheriff’s Office. part of the community – but the sheriff’s office also supports this community, ”said Sheriff Hoss Mack, Baldwin County.
Over 80 volunteers took the time out of their Sunday to help fill trunks with milk, fresh vegetables, turkey and whatever else you might expect on the holiday dinner table.
“If we didn’t have an army of volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to put literally tens of 20 tons of food in our county during the holidays,” said Deann Servos, executive director of Prodise Pantry.
Most of the boxes are made at the local international paper mill, whose employees were on hand to volunteer for the second time.
“It’s a very efficient process… Kind of like manufacturing like what we do – we want to be as efficient as possible. But it’s also great to be able to step back and help people in the community – like But to really see how much it takes to put it all together – I mean a lot of praise goes to this team at Prodise Pantry for what they do in the community, ”said Randall Pittard, International Paper.
For Prodise Pantry, the work never stops. They will continue to meet needs in 2022.
“The need is not diminishing. We are here every year … Day by day … Week by week. But during the holidays, it is so important to all of us that families can sit together as a family and enjoy ‘a holiday meal like the rest of us,’ Servos said.
Prodise Pantry will be hosting another ticket pickup event this Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
